The Post-Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Recovery Clinic at UCLA was created to help ICU survivors navigate the recovery journey after a hospital stay. The multi-disciplinary team is comprised of doctors, a respiratory therapist, a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a social worker and a pharmacist. "It felt good to get full complete answers. It makes me feel that UCLA cares for their patients' wellbeing and recovery" - Post ICU Recovery Clinic Patient Our goal is to provide individualized care tailored to help each patient with his or her unique medical, psychosocial and mental health needs. This team of experts is uniquely positioned to help address the significant challenges patients face after being discharged from the intensive care unit, and to improve the recovery experience for these patients.
With a growing number of COVID-19 survivors, there is an increasing need for the clinic's services. With philanthropic funds, the team plans to expand from an every-other-week clinic to a weekly clinic to better meet the need for care. Funds are also needed to support a psychologist, to create a support group, and provide financial assistance to patients. Research is also an integral part of the clinic, and is being conducted to evaluate ICU survivorship and improve outcomes for future patients. "You are making lives better, one visit at a time." - Post ICU Recovery Clinic Patient
