Skye Donald was a beloved UCLA School of Law faculty member who improved the work and the lives of those around her, including the students she mentored and her fellow faculty members. She was an extraordinarily talented lawyer and teacher who brought out the best in people. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2010, Skye continued teaching and mentoring for several years. She succumbed to cancer in October 2016, at age 43.

In Skye’s memory, and at the impetus of many of those in our community who loved her, UCLA Law is creating the Skye Donald Memorial Fund. The fund will support the Skye Donald Spirit of Community Award, which will be given to UCLA Law students who - like Skye - truly make our community a better and more special place. Our hope is to build an endowed fund, to exist in perpetuity, that will support prizes to students who truly capture the spirit of Skye Donald.

The Skye Donald Memorial Fund and the Skye Donald Spirit of Community Award will, in small measure, honor Skye’s memory and the many contributions she made to UCLA Law. We also hope that it will further her values of service and compassion and enhance the UCLA Law experience for award recipients and our whole community.

If you are a UCLA Law alum at a participating law firm, your support will also count toward the UCLA Law Firm Challenge. To participate in the challenge, please list your firm name in the Comments section below.
