Support the Future of the Garden The Mathias Botanical Garden serves as an outdoor classroom and laboratory, as well as a healthy natural space within the urban sprawl of Los Angeles. UCLA and K-12 students come to explore nature and botany by engaging with our curated plant collections, while researchers use them for their studies. In addition to being an important campus resource for teaching and research, the Garden welcomes visitors to explore the global biodiversity of plants and to better understand society's relationship with them. Educational public events inspire new understandings of plants and interest in caring for and conserving them. Volunteers can learn about horticultural techniques and how to share the natural history of plants through leading guided tours. An oasis in the city, the Garden provides a space where the community can come study, cultivate, and enjoy the wonders of the plant world. Why Become a Member? Join the Garden’s community of close friends! When you renew or upgrade your membership, you support the only admission-free public garden in Los Angeles.
