What your donation can support

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology (formerly the Department of Physiological Science) is dedicated to explaining the function of complex biological systems in cells, organs, and individuals. The research of our faculty and students spans many levels. We use approaches that range from RNA interference to ion channel electrophysiology to genetic intervention in behavior to mathematical modeling to robotics, all to make sense of sensory, motor, endocrine, and cardiovascular systems. Donations to the department are vital to ensure a strong future for its graduate and undergraduate education programs. Your donation, regardless of amount, has a powerful impact and is greatly appreciated. You may focus your gift on a specific area, or make a gift to be used in the area of greatest need.

Student Support

Integrative Biology and Physiology Graduate Fellowships: Gifts directed to the Integrative Biology and Physiology Graduate Fellowships fund support our extraordinary graduate students so that they may devote their full efforts to their dissertation research. All gifts help us to continue to provide as many fellowships as possible. These funds can also be used to provide much-needed support for materials for their thesis research, which are not necessarily funded by grants available in the mentor's lab.

Integrative Biology and Physiology Undergraduate Research Fellowships: Support directed to the Integrative Biology and Physiology Undergraduate Research Fellowships fund helps to keep our talented undergraduates from interrupting their research during summer. These students would otherwise have to take time off from their research because of a lack of funding support. In addition to providing support for students, gifts to this fund also help to provide support for research materials. A donation of $3,000 would support an undergraduate researcher for the summer.

Donor Impact

Your generosity is greatly appreciated by the faculty, staff, and students in the department as well as by the University. Donors at all levels should feel proud of supporting higher education, and all donations help us with our mission. Cash donations or gifts of securities are tax deductible and will have an immediate impact. Pledges for future gifts are also welcomed. Named endowments or named faculty chairs are especially welcomed and can help secure our future.
