Thank you for supporting the UCLA Center for Behavioral & Addiction Medicine (CBAM). Our mission is to advance the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, especially in communities with health disparities. We envision a society where every person is able to access the highest quality behavioral health services to reduce substance use, HIV risk, and other behaviors which impair health. Our mission is carried out through three signature services:

  • Research: Investigate medical, behavioral, and combination approaches to the prevention and treatment of chronic illnesses, with a particular focus on addiction and HIV.
  • Evidence-based Prevention & Treatment Services: Lead the implementation of scientifically evaluated behavioral and addiction services in primary care and community-based settings.
  • Training: Teach the next generation of clinicians through fellowships in Addiction Medicine in Primary Care which provide ongoing access to clinical populations throughout Los Angeles County.
