Max Gray was passionate about film, art and music. He graduated in 2006 from Harvard-Westlake School, where he served as captain of the varsity lacrosse team. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the New York University Gallatin School of Individualized Study, he worked at Creative Artists Agency and OddLot Entertainment in Los Angeles. In August 2013, at the age of 25, Max died by suicide.

To honor her son’s memory and reduce the toll of depression on children, adolescents and young adults, Laurie Davis Gordon established the Max Gray Fund for Treatment of Mood Disorders at the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA in 2014.

Since its inception, the Max Gray Fund has awarded 45 Fellowships to recruit and train exceptional psychiatrists and psychologists. The UCLA Max Gray Fellowship Program is more than just an advanced training course. It is a pipeline of dedicated providers who deliver high-quality care, help families navigate mood disorders and develop novel interventions. The impact is profound: Patients and families receive compassionate, evidence-based treatment that transforms their lives.

This year, the clinic welcomes its largest cohort of seven Fellows — a testament to the program’s excellence and the urgent need for mood disorders support. The demand for effective mental health services has never been greater. A gift supporting the Max Gray Fellows is a direct investment in community well-being and provider capacity. These emerging leaders will ensure that patients and their families receive the best possible care.

Now is the time to act. Philanthropic contributions to the Max Gray Fellowship will help expand this vital program and prepare rising mental health professionals to tackle evolving challenges in their field.

Please consider donating to the Max Gray Fellowship Program today. Together, we can make a lasting difference and shape the future of mental health care.

Thank you for your generous support.
