As one of the leading academic technology development centers at UCLA, the mission of Social Sciences Computing is to develop innovative educational technologies and to support information technology related research and instructional activities in the Social Sciences. Our Division is the largest in the University of California system, comprising over 50 departments, programs and research centers. Social Sciences Computing is a leading unit at UCLA in the introduction of the latest technologies to higher education, which over time has included the migration from mainframes to Unix servers, the introduction of networks and wireless systems, the use of high speed switching, technology based instructional laboratories and classrooms, internet development, course management systems, remote learning, electronic media, and mobile computing applications. We are at the cutting edge of educational technology at UCLA.
